I recently watched a film called Atonement starring Keira Knightley, and it was one of the best films I have ever seen in my LIFE and i seriously recommend it.

I've basically talked about the whole story of the film below for you to read, if you're interested.

So, it's about a 13 year old girl who sees her older sister strip naked and dive into a fountain in the garden, in front of their gardener. Briony (13) believes that Robbie -the gardener- is attacking Cecilia -her older sister- and making her do stuff she doesn't want to.

Then robbie accidentaly sends a rude letter to Cecillia via Briony, and Briony reads it. She is appauled that her sister could be going through this and she's convinced Robbie is hurting her.

One night, they hold a dinner party at their house, and Robbie is invited. Some cousins of Briony and Cecillia are visiting, aswell as some family friends. Previous to this party, Briony finds Robbie and Cecillia making love against a bookcase in their library, and this confirms her suspicions of Robbie doing something to Cecillia.

During the party, Briony finds a scribled letter from 2 of their cousins saying that they have run away. So a big search party is sent out to look for them. Everyone goes outside, into the night to look. But Briony stumbles across a man raping her cousin, Lola, who is about the same age as Briony. She is very frightened, and tells the detectives that it was Robbie who raped Lola, as Lola does not herself because she did not see his face - even though we find out later that it was actually one of their family friends who commited the crime. She wants robbie to suffer for what he is 'doing' to Cecillia, as so is content when he is sent to war. (He had to choose between war and prison).

Cecillia and Robbie are in love, but can't be together, and as time goes on, Briony realises the pain she had caused by lying, and saying it was Robbie. After the war is over Cecillia and Robbie are re-united, but are living a rough life. Briony visits them in their small house when she is much older (about 18), and says she will try to put things right.

All of a sudden, the film is interuppted, and an interview is taking place about a book called Atonement. Briony is telling the interviewer about this new book she has written all about her life. She is much older by this time. Then she tells us that her visit to Cecillia and robbie's house after the war, never actually took place, and that they wer never even re-united. they both died just before the war ended. robbie died of dehydration and exhaustion, and Cecillia died when a bomb hit a water pipe near to the air raid dhelter she was in, ansd the water came gushing through. So Cecillia drowned in too much water, and robbie died without any. Ironic.

Although it had a sad ending, I thought this film was amazing, it was so well put together, adn the actors actes really really well.
